Balnarring

Balnarring is a town in the state of Victoria. The community, situated midway through the Mornington Peninsula, is located some 80 kilometres south of Melbourne, the state capital. Formerly known as Tulum (it was changed after World War II), the town's name was derived from a Bunurong word, which means "camp in open place". It has an estimated population of 1,622 residents.

Established in the 1860s, the community of Balnarring is part of the Local Government Area of the Shire of Mornington Peninsula. The area is within the State District of Hastings (in the Victorian Legislative Assembly) and the Federal Division of Flinders (in the Australian House of Representatives). The town's neighbouring localities are Balnarring Beach, Bittern, Hastings, Merricks Beach, Merricks North, and Point Leo.

Balnarring is situated within the Mornington Wine Belt. Thanks to this natural heritage, the community has much to offer its local and visiting connoisseurs. A very good way to enjoy some of the town's best wines is through the various tours offered in and around the area. Notable samples include Amour of the Grape, Grape Day Out, Out & About Winery Tours, Vines By The Bay, Wallaces' Winery Tours, and Your Shuttle.

Other popular attractions in Balnarring are the Balnarring Picnic Racing Club and Emu Plains Market.
